It was a pleasure to meet and see the commitment and enthusiasm Ms. Wehner has for the children she works with in Livonia.” Ms. Wehner’s impact on her students is crucial to their academic success. According to Ms. Wehner, Students who struggle to read proficiently by the 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of school later in life.
A Passionate Parent’s Nomination
“During COVID, when my son was in kindergarten, she started helping him learn (at-home online) with sight-words. She would even READ to him via Zoom during the summer, on her own time! She truly has a LOVE for kids, and one million percent enjoys helping them LEARN to read. I was told he’d be a reader at the end of kindergarten- I didn’t think it’d happen. But he was! Then Mrs. Wehner continued to support my son, and many other kids, throughout 1st grade – 2nd and now 3rd grade! He’s come so far! I’m proud of him, and more importantly, he’s PROUD of himself!!! She sought out afterschool/summer reading programs for the kids to continue to improve their reading skills! I’m sure I’m leaving things out, because there are so many that come to mind. She is kind, caring, friendly, helpful and ohhh so patient!!! Whew! And we all know PATIENCE is IMPORTANT!!! Please consider HONORING Mrs. Werner as an EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATOR… because she is that….. and so much more!!! “
Giroux Pappas created the Exceptional Educator Program and partners with WXYZ to gather nominations for educators in the area that go above and beyond for their students. Giroux Pappas launched the program in January 2022 to give back to the community it serves and has recognized and donated to a teacher each month since.
To nominate a teacher who inspires their students and goes out of their way, visit the Exceptional Educator page on the Giroux Pappas Trial Attorneys’ website.
